fall decor is up
(can you spot something that doesn't fit on the mantel??)
halloween costumes have been purchased.
yes, i am aware that this is by far the tackiest mermaid costume on the face of the earth.
but atleast it's not...err....slutty. yes, i said slutty.
lots of the mermaid costumes (FOR TODDLERS) look slutty. no thank you.
shiny material is never good. but i'm hoping to add some shell accents and make it a little
uhhhhhh classier???
an embarrassing amount of layouts have accumulated waiting to be put away:
fall shoes have been purchased at target.
newest library books
(and old favorite magazines)
sit on the bedside table waiting to be read
yes. that is a stephenie meyer book. sorry twilight junkies, NOT a fan of her writing.
my teenage cousin gave me this book to read a while back and i haven't been able to get into it.:
pretty ribbons from JoAnn waiting to be used:
that's about it for now. i'm sneezy and exhausted, so i think it will be another early night again tonight.
i went to bed at 9 last night. soooo weird, but so good.
love to you all.
xoxoxo
Hmmmm, I believe I saw what appears to be a pink (possibly Barbie or Princess) Pez depenser on your lovely mantel.....it proves a real family lives in that house!!!

While I loved Meyer's Twilight series, I struggled to finish The Host. Too sci fi for my taste.
I love the "text" pumpkin and your new finds at T.
Get some rest - feel better soon! xo

Love that Pez dispenser -- too funny!
Take care and get well soon!

the sequined three inch heels that aren't in the picture. he hides them in
his closet. don't ask, don't tell. ;)

Always love the little peeks into your home! Everything looks loverly for fall! Cute shoes and I KNOW what you mean about the toddler costumes - it is difficult! Take care!

That's too bad that you haven't enjoyed it - I really liked the Host! (& yes, I am a Twilight fan, too) You should give it another try - I swear you'll love the characters you're supposed to hate!!
Love all your fall decor!! (including the Princess Pez.....=D)

Everything looks really good! Even the Princess PEZ :) I just finished The Host and while I did like it ok it pales in comparison BIG time to her Twilight series.
Happy Fall!

As usual you have inspired me to post my fall stuff and go out and purchase a few more things...some of my stuff did not make it through last fall...:) At least you have been creating. Work has put a stop to my creative time...I might have to do something this evening....or work on finishing my book...You belong to me...per your suggestion.

I'm getting ready to put up my fall stuff too!! i love this time of year!

I also could not read the twilight books! But the movie was fun... my 11 year old daughter, on the other hand, loves them..
No slutty Halloween costumes allowed here either... I mean, you really have to be a big s*ut if you are caught in one anyway because the temps are usually frigid with a capital cold!!! My kids have to wear long underwear under their costumes or they don't get to go out... period. And I drive them door to door!
Posted by: Andi Sexton | 09/18/2009 at 09:16 PM
Wow, you think toddler costumes are out of line....try finding one for a very tall almost eight year old second grader....I wouldn't like her wearing them as a teenager let alone as an eight year old!!! We did settle on a not too expensive angel costume (her idea, thank goodness). It's purchased and now there will be no changing of minds to a super model in heels!
Great job decorating, I usually think about it and don't get much further than that.

girl, your decorations are always so beautiful, and I love the little girl decoration on your mantle....you will always have that one decoration that just doesn't quite fit, but boy they love that you left it there don't they???!!
Posted by: AmyJ | 09/18/2009 at 09:52 PM
love the decorations. and the shoes. but really love the ribbons in the jar. are you going to "play" with Denise's self challenge for the weekend? Not that using ribbons is a challenge for you, but the inspiration would help the rest of us "ribbon challenged"

Love the princess Pez dispenser. Kristen Chenowith's book is great. Enjoy! I read all the Stephenie Meyer books and had a hard time with them too. I guess because I'm not a teenage girl!

Yea for early bed times!
And yea for princess pez dispensers :)

Love all the Decorations but where did the 3rd pic pumpkin come from? Love it
Posted by: Kim S | 09/18/2009 at 10:55 PM
I totally agree with you on slutty costumes for toddlers, not good (and makes me mad!)and Iwhile I loved the Twilight series I couldn't get past the first chapter of "the Host".
oh how I wish we had Halloween in autumn.. those decorations are wonderful :o)

I just finished the host and I LOVED it so much, but also had a bit of a struggle to get into the story in the beginning, but when I did, LOVED it, so my advice is to give it another try.

The little Pez is cute. Nice decorations and hopefully you are sleeping off the "ickies."

Stephanie...I just want to come to your house and hang out. Your blog is so pretty and you always make your house look just darling.
I also started The Host awhile ago....returned to the library without ever reading anymore than 2 chapters. I just couldn't get into it!

Thanks for sharing Stephanie. I look forward to reading your posts. Love the Pez dispenser on the mantel--no home where a family really lives is ever magazine perfect:D

Love the additional of the Princess Pez-My son "decorates" by adding Legos into the mix (keeps it festive).

I was looking at mermaid costumes with my three year old and was really icked out by some of the costumes. Inspired me to try and convince my girl to go as a ghost--white sheet and all! She told me she didn't like ghosts and was going to be a princess instead, she then found a full length "gown" complete with hoops!

No fall decor is complete without a Sleeping Beauty pez dispenser!

I love the Princess Aurora (looked like Sleeping Beauty!!). It is a great addition to your mantel!! hee!hee! I love all of your fall decor items. I have yet to drag mine out. I think I need to get hopping on that!! I am not into the Twilight series either. I hope you are feeling better!! Allergies?? Have a great weekend, Steph!!

Give poor Stephenie a chance (if you haven't read the Twilight books yet). I LOVED the Twilight series, but I can't get into the Host either. I've tried 3 times. I gave the Host to my niece to see if she liked it and she felt the same way. Love your fall decorations!!!
Posted by: Dena | 09/19/2009 at 03:49 PM
I gotta tell you that that Sleeping Beauty pez dispenser its just the cutest. Beautiful decorations by the way. ;-)

The first few chapters of the Host were a struggle for me, but once the real story began I couldn't put it down. I actually loved the book!

Fabulous photos of your fall decor, lots of creative inspiration on show.

Ugh - "The Host" was a tough book to get through. Nothing happens until page 400 or so, and and then nothing really great happens after that, either. lol....I tried. It failed. Hope Monday turns out to be Funday for you guys, and here's to sleeping all night!! :)
Posted by: Michelle Clement | 09/20/2009 at 07:09 PM
Love the fall decorating! I needed a kick in the pants to finish mine.
As for the books.... If "The Host" is the very first Stephenie Meyer book you have ever tried to read, no wonder you don't care for her. It is totally UNLIKE the Twilight books. Put it away & don't read it until after you have read Twilight. I am a huge fan of that series. I had a very difficult time getting into "The Host." I was a great story once I got into it, but the writing style in it is totally different from the rest of her books.
