how is this baby girl almost two? wasn't it just yesterday that i was desperately hoping i wouldn't go into labor until J got home?
isn't it just yesterday that i made this??
so how in the world is it that i'm in the process of planning her 2nd birthday (she'll be two on 2-2-10)? it just seems insane!!
we've never had a "real" birthday party for either girl. usually j isn't home, or we just don't know anyone to ask. haha! well this year we don't know anyone either, but dang it, we're having a party! i don't care if we're the only ones there.
it doesn't hurt that valentines is my favorite holiday.
pink and red?
glitter?
hearts?
doilies?
ribbon?
flowers?
yes oh yes it is my favorite.
i don't like the cheesy part of it. not really into the "romantic" part. i just love the decorations!
i ordered her invitations a few days ago (from tinyprints)
here is the proof (i've since gotten rid of the dash after the time and the errant spaces...don't you proofreaders worry. ;)
being the freak that i am, i was hoping we could have her 2nd bday on
2-2 at 2 pm, but it's a tuesday (TWOsday, it's KILLING ME!!!) and i didn't think that would work.
yes, i'm a dork. but just let me revel in my dorkery. j sure does.
i'm brainstorming decorations...i think i'm going to make banners of felt hearts
and also some doily banners.
i'm so excited. i forgot how fun it is to plan parties.
i was quite proficient at it in college, if i do say so myself.teehee.
but this isn't quite the same kind of party. and it's MUCH more fun.
and it won't give me a headache the next day.
or atleast not the same kind of headache.
SIDENOTE: re my "bad day" post....
i want to thank all of you for "getting" me. i know i say it all the time, but i mean it.
thanks for knowing that moms feel the way i feel and that it's okay.
thanks for not lecturing me. or telling me the way i felt was silly.
i really appreciate all of you.
the bad day gave way to two really good days.
and you were a big part of that.
=)
that's all i've got today.
check back soon....i have a major giveaway to do , my giveaway drawer is full again. ;)
oh, and if you have any questions, leave them here. i'm thinking of doing a "Q and A" post soon.
happy happy thursday!
xoxoxo

Adorable post! I will be anxiously awaiting pictures of your party. Love your play on the word "two" -- you are very creative -- don't ever stop!!
Posted by: Susan | 01/07/2010 at 02:58 PM
already hit it up, holly. great taste, haha!
Posted by: Stephanie Howell | 01/07/2010 at 02:59 PM
OK.. I really think you should stick with the 2, on 2 at two pm! Too cute!
(get it?Dang, it's addicting!)
And plan those parties every chance you get!
The years rip on by and before you know it you are sneaking out the door, buying last minute gifts and a fancy cake because of all the 'other stuff' that consumed the past week! Case in point.. my dd turned 12 this past Tuesday... whose idea was it to have babies around the holidays??????

Love it, Steph. She is a doll. :) I thought of you last night at Target when I saw the red and pink heart-shaped glitter plates in the dishes section. So pretty!

How FUN a tutu party . . . my baby girl turns "15" on the 16th of February . . .I don't think she'd appreciate a tutu party. When she was younger I DIDN'T do fufu things with her . . . I'd have to admit that if I had it to do all over again, I most definitely would! :) I can't wait to see what decorations you make . . . Happy Birthday to Sadie!

The party plans sounds adorable and perfect! My DD turns 4 in a couple of weeks aaargh! I can't quite believe it myself. We're having it at a playcentre type thing so then I don't have to worry about doing the "entertaining". Although I do love the decorating when we have it at home :)
I had to make the invitations because I *had* to do something crafty!
Posted by: Jennifer.T | 01/07/2010 at 03:49 PM
I can't believe it's been 2 years either! Seems like it was just you and Harper not that long ago. I'm glad you're having a party for her golden birthday. I love the theme!

Are you baking the cakes?

Two? I don't believe it! Wasn't it just a year ago when I called you while you were in the hospital?! The invitations are oh so CUTE! Thanks for the birthday wishes. xo!

I love little girl's birthday because "cute" is still "in" with them. Making Memories have those Valentines paper banners on their website, and I think those would be cute!

Wow Two!! My oldest will be two in March! It makes me sad though but at the same time I love this stage, each day is a new day ;) How far apart are you girls again?
Posted by: Jennifer H | 01/08/2010 at 08:25 AM
If you're a dork, then so am I. I can't help but love the fact that my son's birthday has all twos and zeros: 02/20/2002. But it gets better. He graduates in the year 2020! Awesome, right?!! See, I'm a dork too.
Have fun with the party planning! :)

Oh Steph, it is her golden birthday as well!! You have to do it on Tuesday.. it would be too cute!! :) Keep doing the parties. Like someone else said, the years disappear so fast!! I was going to tell you Target has a bunch of stuff... can't wait to see pics of her party!!
I loved your mommy post!! I love that you are so real and just put it out there. It is nice to know that you aren't out there all alone and that others feel like that too, at times.
Posted by: Michelle Unruh | 01/08/2010 at 08:51 AM
LOVE the party invite!! Looking forward to pictures you share! Completely agree with "where does the time go?" And my girls are 8 & 4 already!! My 4yo has her 1/2 birthday today so too soon my baby will be 5!! Sad and happy all at once...I want them to grow up but it's hard to let go a little at a time. :)

I just love your randomness ... makes me smile out loud. And I remember when my daughter was two ... and now HER baby boy is turning two this summer. Time is so fleeting so enjoy every moment of every day!

Love your invite and idea. My daughter, Jasmine's, 2nd bday party is on Feb 13 too. We're doing an elmo dancing party. It's such an adorable age, and Sadie's a doll. I'll celebrate with you virtually!

Oh my goodness!! My little girl would love a tutu party, complete with her wings and princess shoes! Sounds like a really sweet party, Steph! I am sure the girls will love it!!!! Don't forget the candy necklaces as party favors and OH the conversation hearts! Gotta have those too!!! Heee heeeee! My mind is just reeling now - everyone in my family goes waaaaay overboard on parties! But you know, they are only little once and believe it or not, they DO remember those details. Have fun!!!

When our oldest daughter celebrated her 2nd birthday, we lived away from family, my husband and I were in the Air Force. To celebrate, we gathered all of her favorite dolls and stuffed animals and had our own little party. She absolutely loved it, we got it on tape, and we all had a great time. My daughter, who will now be 27 this month, thinks the whole thing was a bit lame, but... being in the military away from family, you do what you got to do. Have fun with this fabulous party you are planning.
Posted by: Karen | 01/08/2010 at 09:03 PM
okay if we lived closer I would dress up in a tutu with tiara an septer and be there!!!
But one line in your post "revel in my dorkery" oh my goodness girl, I love it!!! You and me both girlfriend, my SO in fact calls me dork all the time and I could care less, the world needs more crying dorks in my book!!!
Happy Birthday to the tutu sweet two year old!

TWOsday had me laughing so I guess I'm a dork too!
Love your blog, I don't usually leave comments but I really appreciate your honesty.
My girls have the same gap as yours (although slightly younger) and it's great that you share all that you go through because I feel like I'm right there beside you.

Super cute! Time does fly, my daughter turns one today. Her name is Tuesday and we call her tutu for short so I might have to use some of your wording for her next party!
Posted by: Amber Lee | 01/10/2010 at 02:42 AM
I LOVE your dorkieness Stephanie. For my daughters 1st birthday I got the Martha Stewart pink pom pom kit and hung them all over the house. They are inexpensive, and look awesome hung all around the house with some banners! I share in your disbelief! My daughter will be two in May! Why does the second one go so much faster than the first???????
Posted by: Alison | 01/10/2010 at 10:02 AM
I love the invites! I also love all of the decorations that go along with Valentine's day! I can't wait to see all the pics of the party! Your silliness will be great for your girls, they'll be able to joke and not take thing too serious! I have lacked in that area!
