lucy:
cate:
yes i'm reusing this one b/c i LOVe it:
i think we are having a growth spurt. eating ALL the time, grumpy/cranky.
the other night we slept FIVE hours in a row. when mommy woke up she felt like a new woman! she said her eye finally stopped twitching and she could finish a sentence! (whatever that means!)
we like to scream really loudly at the same time when mommy is driving. or when we are in the checkout line at babies r us.
mommy had 35 dollars in toys r us rewards and daddy isn't around, so she had to go use them for diapers, etc. we screamed all the way through the store. mommy was sweating LOTS and looked like she was having a mini nervous breakdown. plus side? everyone felt sorry for her and helped her. :)
i (cate) weigh over six pounds.
i (lucy) weigh over seven pounds.
we are masters of busting out of the swaddle. but if we are NOT swaddled we smack ourselves (or each other) in the face with our hands and will not sleep for longer than 5 minutes at a time. it's time for mommy to invest in a miracle blanket. or two.
we love bath time. we scream, but when mama pours the water on us we LOVE it.
newborn diapers fit us perfectly right now.
we are starting to smile and make kiiiind of cooing noises.
happy wednesday!
xoxo
Stephanie-
A personal question... you talk a lot about having to keep your shirt off to feed the babies so I thought it would be OK to ask :). Are you able to only feed the babies with your ..um.. shirt off? I am 17 weeks pregnant with twins and would love to breastfeed. I get a lot of "helpful" advice from people that say that I simply cannot do it. That I will need formula too. Your jokes about always having to feed them make me think that this might not be the case???
Hope that isn't too personal!!

I can't believe it has been six weeks already! They are precious!
Posted by: Tiffany | 01/05/2011 at 12:09 PM
i was exclusive breastfeeding until a couple of weeks ago. the babies were losing weight so i chose to give them a bit of formula after i breastfeed them every time. they are still nursing just as often and just as long and their latch/suction hasnt been affected. however, i know this doesnt work for everyone and that lots of times adding in bottles/formula ruins the nursing. im lucky i guess. i am not going to lie. it is REALLY hard to breastfeed them. the double nursing pillow by double blessings (i think) changed my life!

Hi Stephanie! Your babies (big and little) are gorgeous! You are doing such a fantastic job! Can I just say I am jealous of your swaddling skills? Ha! I have two and they were never swaddled that good!

and Stephanie, I sooo think the babies each look like one of the girls. Is this just in the pics or do they realy look like Harper and Sadie that much??
So so cute!!!

Steph, you don't need a miracle blanket, you need some Woombies! Everett just grew out of the newborn size, and it was pink (pink was on sale.. hehe) let me know if you want me to pop it in the mail to you. It's your if you want it :)
Posted by: JustLulu | 01/05/2011 at 12:47 PM
They are absolutely gorgeous. I literally can smell baby through the screen. I love sleeping babies, it just makes my heart ache. Glad they slept a full five hours the other night and I hope they continue to.

seriously? you are the best!
Posted by: Stephanie Howell | 01/05/2011 at 12:59 PM
such precious pics. i can't believe they're already 6 weeks. that miracle blanket looks fabulous. (do they make one to fit older kiddos? mine older two would still nap if they'd just be still long enough!) madeleine loved to be swaddled, and i used the swaddle designs blanket. my favorite thing about it was that she wanted to be swaddled well past outgrowing most "normal" swaddle blankets and she never outgrew that blanket. i could have still swaddled her in these at age 1, and probably longer sizewise. They are now her "blankies" and are still in beautiful shape, 3 years after purchase. :) just an FYI

Okay I'm not going to lie these babies are so adorable. It makes my heart melt and I so want another baby. My husband would not agree with me though :( I love all your pictures and your down to earth posts..I so know the moments of screaming kids in the store and little nervous breakdowns and sweating. I laugh now about it but I can still remember the feeling. I wish you and your beautiful girls nothing but the best. Thanks for all your daily inspiration be it in scrapbooking or being an amazing mother! Thank you!
Posted by: Leah | 01/05/2011 at 01:29 PM
Oh Stephanie! They're such gorgeous babies! All of your girls are so beautiful! I agree with Lora's comment about being able to smell baby through the screen! Just makes me melt!

I am so jealous of your 2 precious little angles (actually 4...). To avoid any doubt, it's the most positive and well wishing kind of envy :)
Your posts always brighten up my days.

Target has swaddle blankets that velcro nice and TIGHT. We used those on our youngest and it was the only thing that helped her sleep longer than 10 minutes (other than being attached to mommy of course..).
They are just beautiful, you are surely blessed.

Oh I can empathize with the crying in the store. Brit would do that in the grocery store!!! While I was packing groceries!! The cart boys helped me pack up my groceries!! Kudos to the swaddling! Mine were not huge fans of it. I agree. Lucy seems to look like Harper and Cate like Sadie! :) LOVE the pic of Lucy with her tongue out and the one before with her eyebrows raised!! The ones of Cate are just as adorable.. all of your pics are amazing! I really really wish they didn't grow so fast because I really do miss this age!!! I would love another, but it isn't gonna happen. I am getting too old!! LOL

My kids are long past the baby stage (actually have two grandkids who are a lot closer to your kids' ages), yet I still love these posts. Another twin question: do they like to sleep next to each other or is that phase that goes away?
Hang in there, Mama! You are doing a great job!

Hi! I'm a fairly new reader from Michigan. Love your blog for many, many reasons. I have an 8 month old who is no longer swaddled and I have a huge stack of Summer SwaddleMe blankets I'd be happy to mail to you. If you don't want them they are going to Goodwill as I'm the last of my friends to have a baby. Let me know via email, I'm happy to share. (and won't be offended if you don't want them!!!)

OMG! I just love looking at the pics of them! I love how when they sleep, they are cuddled close together! My sis and I are identical twins and even now as grown ups, we tend to gravitate to each other physically. We will be walking and before we know it, we are literall walking shoulder to shoulder! lol Seeing all these adorable baby pics brings back so many memories and makes me want to have another baby so badly!! Enjoy these times :)

Oh, Stephanie, they are so beautiful! Perfectly perfect in every way. You are so blessed. I know these days are hard but they will be teenagers in a blink of an eye (like mine are) and pictures like these will make your heart melt.

Hi, Cate.
Hi, Lucy.
You are excellent bloggers for being only six weeks old!
Posted by: Barb | 01/05/2011 at 08:41 PM
They are so beautiful, and just too precious for words, growing big getting some cute baby fat. Love the wide eyed pics , so alert, thanks for the sweet pics! There is no joy like that of a baby! Oh I can see Harper & Daddy likenesses coming out in them in these pics.
My friend who is a nurse, begins incorporating 1 bottle a day along with nursing, every day, just so if something happens unexpectedly w/feeding as is not uncommon, the babies are already used to the bottle as well and wont fuss. I thought she was pretty smart with that idea. Food for thought you might say lolol.

My husband was our swaddle master, too. "The Happiest Baby on the Block" had a story about a couple that taped their swaddle shut, so I tried that. My daughter still broke out, but never out of one of Daddy's "Baby Burritos."
Your girls are adorable. I can't imagine twins...
I was a "Navy brat," so I can kind of relate...I hope all is well. :)

I mentioned the Miracle Blanket to a friend after reading about it here (had never heard of it.) She had just gotten one from a friend and offered to let me try it. LOVE it!!!! I was pregnant with you (I have 2 boys about H and S's age) and we had a girl Dec. 20th. I feel like I am in survival mode and when I read your stories and updates, it makes me feel like I am not alone. I look in the mirror every morning and tell myself "I can do this." Then I check over at the Howell house and think to myself, "if she can do it with 4, surly I can with 3." You give me hope!
