a lot of you email asking how i actually *use* my flea market finds.
whether i use them, or whether they are just in cabinets...well i try to use them as much as possible!
there is nothing more fun than re-purposing old finds.
for example...i actually use my milk glass collection.
do y'all remember harper's pinkalicious party last year? well, candy looks pretty cute in milk glass!
i also use my milk glass to hold q-tips, cotton balls, etc. in the bathroom:
lanterns on my bedroom dresser:
and of course they are PERFECT for holding scrapbooking goodies:
i buy a lot of old books too. i find they look lovely stacked around the house in random ways:
stacked under the tulips in this photo (you can't really see, sorry)
by the fireplace:
platters can be hung on the wall:
old crates hold coloring books and coloring supplies:
i also stack old suitcases around the house
okay. that's it for today...random i know. but i think the sickness i'm just now getting over sucked all of the creativity and good ideas out of my brain. ugh.
today was dr. seuss day at the girls schools
thanks so much to the AMAZING maggie bunch for these phenomenal dresses. :)
how cute are these frocks??
oh and one last thing i am SO trying to remember right now (i saw this in the land of nod catalog!
ha! that made me laugh out loud when i saw it. especially since i'm stuck in the weird limbo where i can NOT wear my pre-baby clothes. Vom. I need to phase away from the leggings, tees, and buns. I think I'd feel so much better about myself. Know what I mean?
Hmm. Apparently today is rambling Wednesday. Sorry about that. :)
love you all!
xoxo
you are too cute! love seeing all the ways you use your finds. i am really in a phase where i want all my decor to be functional ... not collect dust- ya know? have you heard of the nester? (www.thenester.com) she's my new fave decor site. :) also love the girls dresses- SO cute!!

That quote is awesome! My son is 18 months old and I just stopped wearing my old maternity jeans last week. Double vom. LOL.
P.S. I love how you decorate, I wish I could do it but in my house it would just end up looking like I was too lazy to put things away..haha

Be still my heart! I have a few pieces of my mom's milk glass. I should get it out & use it. That suitcase. That is my Father's case. Pink silk lining. Perfectly packed at all times. I asked mom for it but she wasn't ready to part with that part of him. Finally, those precious girls! Happy Seuss Day to all of you! Oh and the jeans...don't be so hard on yourself. Spring is just around the bend and you won't need jeans for 6 months ;)
All the Best! mag

I'd like a Dr. Seuss Day, too! Your girls looked styling! You could ask them for a few 'ashion tips for your post-preg wardrobe. ;-)

I don't mind rambling Wednesdays! Some bloggers are doing wordless Wednesdays, and I don't like that. I prefer hearing what everyone is up to!! Love your ideas with your finds! Will you still have a scraproom when the babies get bigger? I have three kids and so my scrapbook room is the dining room. My stuff is stored throughout the house though!! I really need help organizing it!

My girls are so big now (23 and 18) and I miss how they looked and acted when they were little. Such cuteness. (I really do enjoy them as they are now. Each age is so precious!!) When you post your photos of the girls (all 4 of them!!) and tell funny stories, my day just goes a little better!! Followed the haircuts on Twitter too! Thanks for spreading the joy!

Love the photos - ramble on please. I try to use my flea market finds, too. Last week I found a typewriter. It makes me so happy(my husband is beginning to think I've completely lost it.) It looks so good sitting on a little table beside the computer & printer! I just "upgraded" to a 1950's canister set to hold flour, sugar, etc. I love it!

I really like that table set up for your party. I'm throwing a baby shower for a friend in a few months and this idea may just get used. :)

Yep, milk glasses are good for collection items. Aside from using 'em around the kitchen, my wife and I arrange recycled items and make some things out of 'em. We have this love for glasses -- we started with wine glass. My personal favorite is the Napoleon Cognac wine glass I had since college. We also use some of the glasses as candle containers.
