can i just start off by saying that singin'in the rain is my number two favorite old movie.
i remember being in high school and watching it a zillion times. i just never ever get tired of it. it's just one of those movies. having a bad day? pop it in and i dare you not to smile. it's true!
number one by the way? roman holiday
anyway, you know what else i love? the april studio calico kit, singin' in the rain. the colors+patterns are out of this world happy.
i got all four add-ons again (and for the last time- my stash is built up again and i have to slow down..hee!).
so for those of you who are curious my shopping list this month was
moses supposes (his toeses are roses, but moses supposes erroneously)
soiree twine (this stuff is GORGEOUS)
even more .03 american crafts precision pens- i use these for the journaling on every single layout.
yes, i went nuts on the shop items but how could i not? emma's shoppe and stella&rose are the most "me" lines i've seen in recent memory!
here's what i made with this month's kit.
Above All
12x12
made using:
singin' in the rain (yellow dot paper, buttons)
happy refrain (orange paper,thickers)
make em laugh (gray dot paper)
moses supposes (sassafras stickers,butterflies+flowers,ephemera)
tap dance (date sticker)
I never ever use typewriter journaling. I WANT to, don't get me wrong...but I don't own a typewriter that works. That's why i SO love these phrases that came in the Daily Junque ephemera pack.
this color combination is a bit out of control, but i love it with the gray background. i tell my girls ALL the time to be kind.
i tell them that i'd rather hear from a teacher how kind they are than hear how they are making good grades (even though of course i want to hear that, too). i thought that i should do a layout talking about how i want harper to always be kind and compassionate. i think there are many ADULTS that perhaps need this reminder.
covered in love
12x12
made using:
singin'in the rain (floral paper, house button)
happy refrain (border sticker, thickers, pink patterned paper, fabric brads)
moses supposes (circle/scallop paper)
tap dance (chipboard accents, stickers)
bright much? HA! i couldn't resist. i love the fresh, springy colors in this kit. and that crate floral paper is one i keep reaching it to. i used it for my "scrappy sunday" post a few weeks back. i just love florals, both in my wardrobe and on my pages.
girl's lunch
8 1/2x11
made using:
singin' in the rain (graph paper, floral paper, date sticker, gingham paper, twine)
happy refrain (border stickers
moses supposes (fabric flower, metal button, butterfly)
tap dance (chipboard accents)
this one makes me very happy b/c it's very springy. i made the bow by tying one of the basicgrey fabric blossoms with a piece of twine. love the preppy feel this page has.
you know what i love about these emma's shoppe papers and embellishments? they have a shabby inked feel to them. my favorite ink to ink papers with is "creamy brown" chalk ink by colorbox. i don't have any anymore, but these papers+accents have that EXACT look. love that.
sadieisms
12x12
made using:
singin' in the rain (yellow dot paper, tag)
happy refrain (thickers, fabric brads)
make 'em laugh (pink paper)
moses supposes (paper doilies,sassafras alphas)
tap dance (chipboard accents)
corner rounder
wow...i really wasn't scared of using color with this kit was i? huh. oh well color=happiness. i'm not much of a muted/pastel gal!
this one makes me laugh, i've been wanting to scrap funny sadie-isms for a while.
pretty basic patterned paper blocking going on here, not much to explain...sometimes i just feel like going the "simple" route. :)
spring fashion
12x12
made using:
happy refrain (happy photo tab,thickers)
make 'em laugh (dot paper, metal flowers)
moses supposes (fabric flowers, chipboard stem/leaves, chipboard border)
another bright, graphic, relatively simple (yet happy) layout. sense a theme this month?? ;)
and last but not least:
team bigs
12x12
made using:
ek success large circle border punch
i had to stop at six layouts but oh how i wish i had time to make more. and i have to tell you...i have a TON of this kit left!
hope you have a beautiful, blessed monday!
xoxo

I love the typewriter journaling in Above All! I've wanted to do the same on my pages and cards, so I made it my mission to find a used typewriter. I finally got one in great condition from Goodwill for $4! I was beyond stoked! Your page just proved how cool using a typewriter can look on a page :)

VERY cool. You were cranking them out! I, too, adore Singin' in the Rain. Ah, Gene Kelly! He was one handsome dude.
As a teacher, I appreciate the message to your daughter(s) about kindness. It's definitely fostered in the home, and you guys seem to be off to a great start.
