**make sure you don't miss out on the fantastic elle's studio giveaway in the post below!**
lucy on left, cate on right.
LOOK AT THEM! six months old? SIX? HALF A YEAR?
no, that can't be right...i'm sorry. i'm still in shock from the news that i was having twins. STILL! i still get surprised when i realize i have two babies! how can they be SIX MONTHS OLD?
i love this age. love love love. i really think it's my favorite age with babies. there is a reason i get baby fever every time my children are around this age. don't worry, it usually goes away once they start getting into everything. HA!
but oh, i love this time with them. they are so HAPPY. and interactive, and snuggly...well, they are just precious.
miss cate:
around 16 lbs (i think- this is from me holding them on the scale :) we'll know for sure at their 6 month checkup).
loves oatmeal
super squirmy and mobile. rolls front to back, back to front and scoots across the floor all day long. she SO would crawl if she could!
she has this impish quality about her that i LOVE. always a light in her eyes, squeal on her lips, legs always pumping.
sleeps on her tummy now
pitches a fit right before she falls asleep
despises the binkie except when she's reeealllly tired and then she wants it.
likes to poke and prod her sister
loves the jumparoo
figuring out how to blow raspberries
loves to be talked to by her sisters
miss lucy:
18 lbs- super chunky. i love this.
snuggler (i LOVE the left picture above).
super laid-back and good natured. she is the happiest baby i've ever had.
she just smiles and coos all day.
can fall asleep anywhere.
loves peas (what??? i know)
is starting to push herself around the floor
still sleeps on her back and still prefers to be swaddled (look, i know she's six months old, but it makes her happy and i've yet to see a kindergartener sent to school swaddled in a comforter. HA!).
shoots me the stink eye BIG time whenever i hold her sister
loves her binkie
always tries to hold cate's hand
loves the exercauser
loves the car
lets her sister beat her up
it is SO fun to watch them starting to really interact. they look at eachother, suck one another's hands, and smile at eachother.
it's so cool to witness.
i know i wasn't sure how i was going to do this,or IF i was going to be able to. but oh, what did i do before i had these babies? they have added so much love and happiness to our lives.
happy wednesday sweet friends!
xxo
nawwwwwwwwww how adorable.
Seriously though, I need you to stop posting gorgeous pics of your babies...it's making me clucky!! (that's 'baby crazy' just in case it translates to soemthing else outside Australia!! lol)
they're so sweet, I'm really glad you're able to enjoy them so much!
Happy 6 month birthdays Miss Cate and Miss Lucy!

It is such a treat to get to watch them grow up - thank you so much for sharing!

So sweet! You are doubly blessed! Well, really doubly double (4x). ;-)
Miss Cate - smiling in her baby carrier - looks so much like her big sister Harper. Are their eyes turning brown? Or is it just the light in that particular picture?

Love the update and mom's perspective on C & L. I remember a friend saying that her twins entertained each other. There were times during the day when she could just prop them facing each other and they would talk and be content for periods of time. That's sounds like the stage your sweeties are at now. Enjoy it before 'the movement' starts!
Posted by: Jill | 05/25/2011 at 09:10 AM
no they are still greyish/bluish. its hard to tell with iPhone pics though!
Posted by: Stephanie Howell | 05/25/2011 at 09:12 AM
If you could just wrap them up and ship them to me, I would certainly appreciate it. Just for a week or so, I promise to send them back after I rub all the yummy off them and take very good care of them. Have always wanted twins and I do love this age so much!
That is all, thank you very much :)

they are so CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!!
I just love the photos you get of them together, they are so precious and I love the chub factor!!!
My girls were so chubby at 6 months old, but by one year they were all thinned out because they had started walking at 10 months and the chub went away!
super cute babies!

Twins will develop their own language. You may be hearing it already. I am shocked! at how big they are for being 3 weeks early. Well done! maggieb!

supercute! (times 2!!!!!)
Posted by: allison | 05/25/2011 at 10:05 AM
OMG. My baby was just under 14lbs at her 9mth checkup, but she had gotten super tall so the doc wasn't worried. Even now, she is STILL wearing size 2 diapers at 10.5 months, but I'm having to put her into 12mth jammies because she's so darn tall! Do I have a mutant baby?
Posted by: Noelle | 05/25/2011 at 10:06 AM
no, shes just small. :) shell be petite and darling. harper is in the 40th percentile for weight. kids are all different, and like i said, these arent official weights, just guesstimates.
Posted by: Stephanie Howell | 05/25/2011 at 10:07 AM
I could eat them with frosting, they are just so cute!!! Total baby fever here - I like the Australian "clucky" - ha!

happy sweet 6 months to the wee chickies!! i love that i am starting to be able to tell them apart (but only in pics where they are both in it- hee). 6 months was my favorite too-- out of the newborn phase but not quite mobile. such a sweet time :)

They get cuter by the day! :-) 6 months just goes to fast! 6 months is an awesome age too! I LOVE it! Mine is 9 months and has started crawling, pulling up on everything, getting into EVERYTHING including her brother and sister's toys! ;-) Each stage is so fun...everytime! And how cool that you get to experience it double time with Cate and Lucy! :-) have a great day!

Gah!! So so CUTE! I want a baby!! OK, I want a baby this age again. I miss the snuggly part. Hugging my 9yo and 11yo just isnt the same. TFS the adorable video too - gosh that jump/bouncy thing is a cool toy. :)
Posted by: Cynthia B. | 05/25/2011 at 04:35 PM
they are so adorable!! don't feel bad about swaddling. i swaddled claire until she was about 6 mos old too and when she cut her first tooth at 8/9months i had to get a really big blanket and wrap her tight to get her to calm down. i'd put one arm out. she was so happy! paige is 3mos and i am still swaddling her too. i am a believer! ha! =) hugs. your girls are soooo cute.

It always makes my day to see pics and videos of your babies - all 4 of them! I cannot believe it has been 6 months since the twins were born. It seems like yesterday. My twins, Josh & Abby, will turn 7-years old in July. It really does go by fast. I love how you are savoring every moment. You're such a good momma!

Love the top set of photos where the one on the right doesn't appear to move at all and the one on the left sticks her tongue out briefly like she's just trying to get your attention.
Also, I want to commend you for describing your twins separately. Being a twin myself, I know how hard it is for people to see twins as different people and not as halves of a whole. You are a wonderful mom and keep up the good work in helping the girls to have separate identities themselves. Please do your best to let them know that they don't have to do everything together or have the same friends, or like the same things, etc. I think you get my picture.
I really enjoy reading your blog and it generally makes me laugh because you write in such a way that I can picture myself in the scene watching right along with you. Perhaps you should have been an author. I bet you could write some HILARIOUS books for children, too.
Posted by: Melissa | 05/27/2011 at 05:40 PM
Twins are SO much fun. It's amazing how it seems impossible when you find out and at the very beginning, but then after it is like there was never anything prior to them. Life with doubles becomes normal and when people comment it seems strange because what else would you do? Congratulations on 6 months.
Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Girl, that jumpy video is one of the cutest things I've ever seen! I too have four girls, I just did it in 8 years, not 5. Single births. Wouldn't trade a minute! Thank you so much for sharing this cuteness on your blog! You are an amazing woman, and don't forget it!
