reading:
bossypants by tina fey. well, i'm not actually reading it as we speak...i devoured it and am thinking of reading it again. i laughed out loud over and over. which i don't do often (especially when no one else is with me).
her section on breastfeeding? is GENIUS. i want to cut it out and carry it around in my wallet, it's so awesome.
pinning:
my pinning is on overdrive thanks to the pinterest app.
my only complaint about the app is that it doesn't let you change other people's captions on photos when you repin them.
(or i stand corrected! you can, i just didn't know. HEEE! typical stephanie)
and THAT is how i ended up with a pin on my fashion board saying "for when i get my smaller boobies". smaller? REALLY?
and one on my haircuts board saying "got this done today, but in blonde".
awwwwesome.
anyway, i'm pinning lots of home ideas:
and cute outfits (for, you know...when i get my even tinier boobs)
you can find my pinterest boards here.
crafting
i made a card yesterday. yes, a CARD. has the world stopped turning yet? look for something really fun and military-themed on my blog tomorrow!
exercising
well, starting today. joining the Y and taking a TurboKick class tonight. SCARED half to death. needing to buy some exercise clothes that fit, but not wanting to spend a zillion dollars. any recommendations?
as far as the healthy eating, i'm not doing that great. i've been eating for comfort, or forgetting to eat at all. neither of which are good for me. trying my hardest, though.
it's hard for me to remember to take care of myself when my partner in crime isn't here to help! but i'm not giving up!
thinking i need:
the necklace on the bottom. yes? YES!
thinking i need to buy fresh flowers more often. they make me ridiculously happy for a small price. totally worth it.
thinking i don't know if it's worth it for ME to clip coupons. i spent a week gathering coupons online, clipping them from papers, searching online, and saved 27 dollars at the store yesterday. TWENTY SEVEN.
which sounds like a lot, until i think of it as a seperate entity. if someone asked to borrow 27 dollars, or if a top cost 27 dollars...i'd think ONLY 27 dollars. easy!
so, yeah. i applaud those of you who are couponers, but at this point in my life i just don't have the strength. teehee.
that's about it for today. LOTS of you have questions about instagram, printing instagram pics, etc. i will talk about those questions later this week. is there anything else i haven't answered that y'all need to know or are wondering? now's the time to ask, as i am ms. scatterbrain lately...having questions all in one place will help greatly.
eta:
just found out my absolute favorite SC label stickers are on sale for 50 cents! i love these and use them constantly!
happy wednesday!
xxo
you make me smile, my friend.
and workout clothes...
you mean, they're supposed to be something than old tshirts with holes in them?!?! hmmmmmm.... ;)
xoxo.

I like to get my workout clothes at Target or TJMaxx. Cute, but won't break the bank. Going to go put that book on my "to read" list! Have a happy Hump Day!

Target has some cute workout clothes; you can often find good stuff on the clearance racks too.

Justin got me the bird necklace for my very first mother's day! :) I love them...need to get another one now that I have two kiddos!

I was wondering about you pinterest comments, especially the blonde one! I love pinterest but it is becoming quite the time suck for me! Have a great day!

I was wondering when we were going to see pics of the blonde Stephanie Howell :)
If you can stand to go to Walmart, they carry a Danskin line of workout stuff. Inexpensive, comfortable, and pretty. Well as pretty as something you're going to sweat in can be.

target has awesome work out clothes and they are pretty cheap. plus they have some that are super fun and colorful, so those make me happy and excited to work out (weird? maybe...) good luck with your class, though. kick some ass!

Target is the place for inexpensive workout wear. It seems like I can always find something cute there. If you want to look through the racks a bit more sometimes you can score at Marshalls and TJMaxx. But they are definitely hit or miss.
As far as the coupons go, I agree. Once my third came along the money i saved didn't seem worth my time. And we have slowly shifted our eating habits so that now I buy mostly produce, dairy and meat. Can't find coupons for that stuff anyway . .. (at least that is how I justify it!)

Love that necklace! It is so you! Go for it!
Posted by: Deb Wisker | 06/01/2011 at 08:45 AM
Think of it this way: $27, that's a whole add-on! ;-) (Don't have the energy or inclination either)

I really like the variety of workout clothes at JCPenney's: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/XGN.aspx?DeptID=70656&CatID=81024&cmCatLevel=3&shopperType=G&CmCatId=70656&mscssid=69b0fcaa107bf4f258353c31d564bffd1xMnVNoV5a3oxMnVNoV5a3W200B52CE4E1B2A729F7D8168FD083380C3991115213
on sale often and able to shop online.

I love posts like this. I am always too lazy to change the captions in pinterest then I look back and wonder why I added the caption (when I didnt'). Target has some nice workout clothes. They had a tank top with an open bottom (forget what they call it). It is so comfortable & does not show off my less than perfect abs while I am working out.

Love your pins...I've been on "the list" waiting for an invite to get on pinterest for a long time??? Thanks for sharing.
Posted by: Holly S | 06/01/2011 at 09:20 AM
you are the cutest. coupon clipping isn't for me right now either. instead of spending time gathering coupons, i'd rather just spend the $27 and have more time to... pin stuff hehehehe ;) in

Posted by: melina | 06/01/2011 at 10:26 AM
Walmart has great workout clothes and when you need a smaller size you won't be sad because you didn't break the bank the first time!

We are joining the Y this fall, I can't wait! I was going to do it over the summer but we do bike rides, walks, jogs and stuff outdoors plus swimming and hiking, so I figured fall would be better for me! let us know how it goes!!!!
Old Navy has cute workout clothes for pretty cheap! tara

I like Gap for workout clothes. Also, I've had good experiences with New Balance online- if you sign up for newsletter, they send you discounts/free shipping. http://www.shopnewbalance.com

Hi dear Steph!! When I was working as a teacher with 3 little ones at home, I totally did NOT save coupons. One of my mottos was, Pay for Support! If you can swing it financially, let those coupons go for now!!! Time with your little ones is worth So Much More that $27.00!!! Love you and I pray for you daily!!! You are awesome!!!

Stephanie, Walmart actually has some decent Danskin workout clothes, I have some and they wear well and of course are cheap...love your pinterest items, it is so addictive...healthy eating, kinda tough isnt' it? we have graduations and dance recital this weekend, so eating out is in for me...lol...something I'll regret later. Thanks for sharing such fun stuff on your blog!

I get all my workout clothes on sale at Target - cheap and good quality! :)

Yes, workout clothes at Target -- last and last. Turbo Kit is soooo much fun, enjoy but be careful you don't twist your knees and ankles the wrong way -- ouch. Have one question for you -- you had a layout up that is now "out for publication", it had butterflys and Anna Griffin lace paper -- when will we see this again? I now have the lace paper but can't exactly remember the layout. :( Thanks Stephanie

diana- it will be in the september scrapbook trends, at the front in the signature style feature. hope this helps!

Right now, I'm pretty sure you don't have the time for coupons! I'd skip all the food ones and just focus on the diaper deals. Most bang for your buck...and you time!
In Oregon we have Fred Meyer stores and I hit up their clearance racks and got a bunch of under armor stuff for an additional 60% off. Score!
And finally, on the boobie front. My husband's sisters are all very well endowed and when I was complaining to one of them about not liking my preggo size C's, she started laughing hysterically at me. Oh, well. :)

I'll chime in with a vote for Target for workout clothes...be sure to check the clearance racks! And I'd recommend a good workout bra for Turbo Kick, as even smaller "girls" (such as myself) bounce around a bit in that class!

Thank You Stephanie!! I will look for the September Scrapbook Trends -- Congratulations for being published.

yay for working out! I am an avid (yet normal) work-outer and i have found my favorite clothing brands are nike and lululemon. Lululemon is AWESOME and you will pay big bucks for that (sad!). I like nike dry fit pants because they are relatively cheap (especially at the outlet mall) and fit really well. Personally the fit matters to me more than the price because I like to at least feel attractive at the gym. Make sense? Maybe that's why I spend more on work out clothes. Okay I'm going on and on...Sry! Good luck at class tonight! Keep with it and you will LOVE IT!

You need that necklace - too gorgeous!
Must check out the Tina Fey book, she's a hoot. :)
Posted by: Jonnelle | 06/01/2011 at 07:47 PM
exercise clothes @ Target. Champion C9 brand. I especially like the sports bras. Unless you are, um well endowed, then they are not the best choice. I've picked up shirts, shorts, pants, and the aforementioned sports bras.

Get workout capri's, the yoga kind, at Old Navy, $15 and they are super comfy!

If you like her book then you should get the DVD titled Bill Cosby, Himself. It is all about raising children, childbirth, etc. It's an old DVD but you will love it. I couldn't stop laughing through the whole DVD.

Am loving Bossypants! Seems like she wrote it just for me, as so many of her stories "speak" to me. Thinking of you last week as my husband was away for work and I was playing Mom and Dad to our two kids (5 and almost 3). Hats off to you!
Posted by: Janice | 06/01/2011 at 08:22 PM
I usually find a few good deals on work out clothes at Target and Kohls. :)

My husband and I love 30 rock, so I'm sure that Tina Fey's book would be hillarious, thanks for the recommendation! We just joined the Y recently, mostly for the pool so the kids can keep cool this summer, but I have been taking a spin class and LOVE it! (I also kind of like that I can leave my kids in the playroom and get an hour to myself!!!) Old Navy actually has some GREAT affordable workout clothes. I can't get over how much most workout clothes sell for at the big Sports stores! Crazy, I tell ya! Hope your week is going good! :-)

I didn't get a chance to read all the comments so I'm not sure if anyone mentioned the Grocery Game to you yet. You sign up (it's like 10 bucks for 6 weeks I think) and they match your supermarket (you choose) to the coupons that come out in the papers. They give you the dates that each flyers coupon is in, all you have to do is cut out coupons for stuff you are actually buying that week. They tell you what percent you are saving (sometimes 100%) and it really helps on stocking up.
I saved almost 3000 bucks one year (it totals on my receipts for the year)!!

Costco kirkland brand is great for workout pants. I also picked up an adidas top the other day there- cheap! going with the four girls to costco may be the high price you pay. :)

i had to start reading bossypants only at night...since snorting LOLing in public really isn't cute!! loving the book so far. i'm loving all of the workout gear sugguestions because i've been wondering the same thing!
i actually took turbo kick for the first time yesterday morning (followed by an hour of yoga)...SWEAT!! awesome! oh, and i agree with Kelly Noel - Zumba is awesome (and I'm a total spaz).
good luck!

such a cute post - i need to read bossypants, keep meaning to order from amazon.
re. workout clothes not sure if your costco will have but here in canada costco has the BEST workout gear - the brand is "tuff" (i think it's a generic costco brand..) anyway it is a complete knockoff of lululemon (which is a super pricey canadian yoga company) but honestly GREAT quality and super affordable
