last week, harper and i had a discussion about why barbie needed to marry a SOLDIER. i commented on my fb blog page that wanted to get this story down right away. some of you echoed that sentiment and encouraged me . i figured instead of just SAYING i needed to get it down and then forgetting about it, i'd just do it asap.
journaling:
h:mama, we need a boy doll so the princess barbies can get married! me:okay, barbie has a friend named ken! h:is he a SOLDIER? he has to be a soldier b/c those are the bravest, most handsome guys! atta girl harper! i am so proud of you and i'd have to say i agree!
why don't i get more stories like this down? MUST work on it.
hope your day is beautiful and blessed!
xoxo

You should go back through your tweets!! You tend to mention stuff the girls say on there!! You could scrapboook some of your stories from that!

My hubs was a Marine and we bought my oldest a gi joe Marine, didn't take long for my girl to confiscate him for the Barbies. They have cheap versions at family dollar/dollar general, too.

I wish I had kept a record of conversations I had with my boys when they were little, I thought I would never forget them but I did. Scrapbooking has changed my life in so many ways and now I pay more attention to everything in life. This layout is beautiful and you and Harper will love looking back on it. Thanks for sharing.

that's so cute! Harper is BEAUTIFUL, all your kids are, that's so sweet that she is obviously thinking of her daddy in this conversation, goes to show she's very proud of who he is and what he does, that's the best!

so cute! I think you ought to just print out all your tweets and facebook status's and use them as updates to all your layouts! so CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!! that would be awesome!

Awesome! Thank you for using that background piece of paper again. I have had some of it forever and needed to be reminded of how I can use it.

great page and great story! i have a journal (actually my favorite SC project kit) where i keep track of all the cute stories/comments the kids tell. when i have a picture i love that doesn't necessarily have a strong story to tell, i refer to my journal and use a story from there when i scrap it.
plus, it is so great to just read back through...and remember when...

I'm so glad that you scraped that little conversation you had with H!!! She will love that story when she grows up! Seeing these types of stories on scrapbook pages makes me so sad that I wasn't scrapping when my children were growing up. You do wonderful work. Your pages are great!!

Stephanie, you do realize that H's picture with her sweet grin looks exactly like you don't you? I love this layout, especially the story behind it.

Love it! I just write down our stories! Wish I had more of your creativity to scrapbook them!

I was watching Lifetime's "Coming Home" show (Episode 12) and saw the video of J coming home to surprise Harper (on her birthday?). Just wondering if you knew they used your video on the show. Super cute!!!

Your baby girl is on the right track ;) and this layout is adorable for so many reasons. My kids, now in college, love to hear little stories like this from their childhoods. And thank you for a new idea on how to use that background paper which has been sitting in my studio for a while now.

Me and my sister played with 'Sindy' (cheapo Barbies), but we also had an Action Man doll, not a Ken - So our Sindy's married a soldier too :) (He had lots of wives!!)

I've followed your blog for a long time now, and I have to say, I've always thought that H looked like your husband, but man, when that girl smiles (like in the photo in this layout) she is ALL you! Such a beautiful, blessed family! Keep enjoying every minute!
