this page came about for an assignment i had for the JBS blog. i was to do a layout demonstrating "beyond journaling". in other words, doing a page about something deeper than just describing the occasion in the photo.
this is a photo harper snapped before j and i went on a date (the night before he left). that night i almost deleted it. i remember thinking "why don't we ever have good photos of the two of us?".
hence this title. i found the photo the other day and i was SO happy to see it. it's funny how things can change in a few months.
journaling reads:
in may, when this photo was snapped, all i saw was that my arms looked big. not a good angle.parts are blurry and out of focus...so silly. now 2 months later all i can think about is how much i miss you. and how handsome you are. how much i miss your smile. and how i was so happy in this photo. come home soon. the heart of our home is missing.
gosh, i miss that guy! the good news is...making this page made me feel a little bit better. ;P
happy happy sunday!

And this is why we scrapbook - so we can remember these moments, these feelings.

I do the same thing with pictures....always notice what is wrong with me. But when I look at other people's pictures, I do not notice that. Like with this one, I just see two people who look happy to be together. Great layout!

I love this layout. I love your genuine, candid journaling for the moment(s) of happiness you can {now} totally appreciate. Thanks for sharing. Your work is always beautiful and has been an inspiration to me many, many times. I love that I live in a country represented by the TRUE patriots who fight for us and work so hard to KEEP us free! I'm SURE that your husband is soooo proud of you for working sooo hard to keep your beautiful family safe and well. I know that Moms across America are proud of you and your family too!

I am glad you didn't delete it!! What a treasure it is to have!! I love the photo. I think you two look so happy together. I bet if he's checked your blog at all, he is happy to see it too. Tell Jimmy to be careful and stay safe!! I can't even begin to imagine how much you and the girls' miss him. Hugs to you all! PS.. there are so very few photos of Greg and I over our 22 yrs between dating and since we have been married! It is pitiful!!

Your journaling brought tears to my eyes. My dh just left a few weeks ago and I was flipping through photos last night trying to find something that would spark some creative mojo. I ran across a photo that our little guy took of us and I had almost deleted it (at the time) also because I HATED the angle, the smirk on my face, and my husband sticking his tongue out (which is a VERY normal photo face for him). But when I saw it, all I could think about was how much I miss his arms around me and how much I miss hearing laughter in our house. I know exactly what you mean when you say "the heart" because he is that for us as well. I wish you strength and smiles until he returns!! -B
