so i don't have many photos from halloween. a couple before we left, a few iphone pics. truth be told, i'm not very good at being a part of an activity if i have my camera out.
i'm sure others are better at this...but i miss out if i'm using my DSLR. i'm always hanging back, standing apart from everyone...camera in front of my face, and i miss the moment.
i didn't want to do that this year. i wanted to be a part of the festivities this year. for those of you that can photograph a moment and be present...that is absolutely awesome. maybe one day i'll be there, maybe not.
the girls have been BEGGING me to wear their costumes again, so i might let them dress up and play in the backyard and i'll snap some pics then.
anyway, here are a few photos. harper was a "GOOD witch" as she told everyone, sadie was a strawberry (i think this outfit was probably supposed to be strawberry shortcake, but she wanted to be a STRAWBEWWY!), lucy was a turkey and cate was a bumblebee.
i had grandiose plans to make catie a pilgrim (complete with a musket and hat), but shockingly (not, snicker) it didn't happen. so she wore one of H's old costumes.
does anyone see a shocking resemblance?
HAHAHAHHAHA!
oh how i love that CZ.
here are the shots i got:
happy friday sweet friends! be looking for an awesome giveaway this weekend!

I, too, have a hard time being present when I am taking photos. I generally carry the camera but sometimes I just hand it off to my husband so I can experience the moment.

I can't take photos and "be" in the activities either. My hubby doesn't like taking photos, or he cuts my head off when he snaps them. You really do have some great photos already... did better than I did! Ben had a little halloween thing at his school on Monday. Brought my DSLR... would help if I would of remembered to take the memory card out of the computer!!!! I had dumped some photos off of it the night before.

One year I realized I wasn't in even 1 of our Christmas morning photos. I really was there. The costumes were so cute. My goodness, Harper looks alot older than 5. Tell Sadie I love strawbewwies too!

you got LOTs of great shots though, that's awesome!
I didn't take my camera either! it gets dark so early, I figured what's the point? I wanted to enjoy just walking and watching and listening to them and talking with my friend. This is the first year my hubby didn't go with us, so I was a little sad about that...
I got a few snaps before we headed out, then a few more with my iphone, gotta love that thing right?!
I know what you mean about being present without the camera, but my camera has actually helped me try to be more present in some ways because I look more for what it is I want to remember, the details etc., but sometimes I just don't want the hassle, so I know exactly what you mean! sometimes I just want to hold their hand instead of having a camera in it!
great job with the photos that you did get, they are awesome!
xoxo

So cute!
I did not take near as many photos as last year.
I just wanted to relax this year a little more :)

I do the same--leave the camera at home. My uncle once today me something that has stuck with me, and it's like what you said, "Be present in the moment. Just enjoy it when you are experiencing it."
The girls look really cute. I especially love that turkey costume. :)

Great photos! I miss the trick-or-treating since my youngest is 15! And I don't have any photos of the actual T-or-T!!! And little bees (and big bees, CZ) are so cute. My son was two when he was a bee!

I think you captured everything perfectly with those pictures! Your girls looked adorable and that turkey costume is just cracking me up...I love it! :-) Looks like a fun Halloween!

It is unfortunate you ran out of time to make the Pilgrim costume as I had tears in my eyes laughing because of the image that came to mind when I saw Lucy in her turkey costume. It would have been hilarious to see them together that way.

Oh, I love CZ too! And too funny and cute that your baby looks very similar! Ha! Gorgeous photos of your beautiful family!

Such cuteness. Their facial expressions-priceless. The bee comparison had me giggling. Looks like a good time was had by all.

You know...I love what you said here. I, too, find that if I'm photographing an event I experience it less. I try to find a balance, but I've also learned that in the end, even if you only have a few pictures, it is still just fine because a few is all you need!
Anyway. Love, love the costumes but I have to confess that the strawberry? The strawberry is priceless!!!
