As much as I would LOVE to do some gorgeous painted pumpkins like these or these...
It's not happening this year. I just can't seem to find the time and plus I STINK at painting things. Especially in intricate designs. I always end up getting stressed.
I've tried, believe me. But I always end up in the corner crying and covered in paint. Or yelling "THIS IS NOT GOING HOW I IMAGINED! I HATE CRAFTS!!!!". It's not pretty.
So in the interest of keeping it festive and simple I experimented with a few ideas.
I will not be sharing the pumpkin that is now in the dumpster outside of my apartment. Let's just say that flat nickel spray paint and pumpkins do not make a good match. It was the color of baby poop. HAPPY AUTUMN, Y'ALL!
Moving on...
Here are some easy peasy pumpkin ideas.
1. Spray a pumpkin with glossy white spray paint.
2. Coat a pumpkin in spray adhesive and then cover with glitter. I mixed together five or six different glitter colors for this pumpkin. Yellow gold, white gold, platinum, silver, etc. Spray pumpkin with hairspray as a final step.
3. Spray a pumpkin with glossy metallic silver spray paint. This one is my favorite. SO easy to do.
That's all for today. I printed a photo 3 days ago and I'm hoping to find time to do a page in the next day or so. Look for another scrappy post soon!
xoxo

ignorant American question: Do they have craft stores in Italy? Like Michaels? Was wondering how you got the supplies for the pumpkins.

No they dont. And I really miss craft stores. Our PX (like a military walmart) has a few things but mostly I order online.

Very nice! I like that box with the numbers. So maybe no craft stores but have have you found any flea markets? I bet you can find some killer stuff like wine crates, Italian books to use on cards or pages, old bottles to fill with flowers.... I keep hoping you will share pictures of your Italian house.

a late comment, catching up on your blog. I think your pumpkins rock! Who needs a knife, when there's spray paint?

Can I ask a silly question, not being American and not celebrating Halloween, do you scoop the middle out of the pumpkins, if not do you paint them and then throw them away year after year or do they somehow keep for a couple of years?
