summer of '69

I wanted to share my Summer Of '69 layouts with you guys. It's bittersweet because it is my very last gallery ever at SC.

I had a wonderful time creating this month and when I was done I felt like everything was so meaningful and special to me.

That's a great feeling,right? I will miss contributing every month!

And Then There Was Joy

Some of the accents in the kit came in a little glassline envelope. I punched the envelope with my Stampin Up heart punch and used the hearts to circle the sweet photo.The rest of it is pretty self explanatory. Simple and sweet. :)

One Tough Princess

This one is all about how I believe it is possible to have tough, spunky,strong princesses.I hand cut the little banner from patterned paper.

The blue strip at the bottom is MME washi tape, which I LOVE.

 

Out and About

I really wanted to document the wonderful girfriends I had in Savannah,so I did a page about our girls night out. Lots of fun accents here (including that MME washi again) and the title work is playful, to match the theme. I can't get enough of these sweet butterflies. I think they are so ethereal and pretty.

True and Pure

I wanted this one to feel romantic and sweet, hence the florals,ribbons,and laces.

I cut the center out of a doily and used it to frame the photo on the left. The black and white photo is not very good quality (blurry iPhone pic) and I wanted to "pretty it up" with a doily frame.

I adore these little dipped confetti tags in the kit and I used them right up.

This was a great kit for me to go out with. Very "me" and this layout confirms that.

I wanted to acknowledge that this was my last month at SC so I made a layout thanking SC (the members,actually) for my time there.

I made a collage of past favorite SC kit layouts,printed it,and "framed it" with October Afternooon washi tape.

A handcut flower, some simple title work and journaling around the frame complete the page.

This one was emotional for me in the end, and I didn't expect that.

If you follow me on Instagram (stephaniehowell) you know that I took a zillion tub pictures while we lived in Sav. My master bath had a huge picture window with amazing light.

I am not usually a mini person,but I really wanted to put all the photos in one album. I cut a piece of chipboard into 4x4 pieces. Each instagram is 3x3.

The cover is embossed using Aqua Zing and the SC chevron stamp.

This is VERY simple, I am not a mini expert. Washi and October afternoon label and phrase stickers and that's it.

 

So...there it is. The end of an era. Thanks for everything, SC. :)

What I made:

This first layout is very special to me. Right now SC is celebrating their 5 year anniversary. And some of the members came up with challenges for the anniversary. You can see them right here.

The challenge I chose was to lift a layout you made 5 years ago.

I looked back through my very first album and found this:

I remember vividly when Harper was one. We lived in Ft. Benning and I was really getting into scrapbooking.

I made this page to tell her my hopes and dreams for her future. Looking at this page now makes me cry. She was so little. And all of the things I hoped for her then...I hope for all FOUR!!! of my girls now.

I knew this was the layout I had to lift.

I came up with this layout using

Elmwood Park

and the

New Digital Printables(the camera date card and "remember" flag)

These photos are so special to me. I have never had photos with each girl and myself. I knew right away I wanted to use them for this layout.

I love this page and I am so grateful for this challenge. Thank you Em!

You want to know something funny? The actual challenge was to "find a layout from 5 years ago and scraplift it with your current style". Um, I think I have the same style and I'm okay with that. Ha!!

I had to do a page about throwing a party with Kerryellen. I knew right away that I wanted the cabochon flowers and buttons to mimic the paper fans in the photo. Love a bright,happy page.

Capture the Flag

I ended up purchasing Capture the Flag because I thought it would be great for photos of Jimmy. The (sad) problem is...I realized I don't have any photos of him that haven't been scrapped.

I love this picture of Sadie in my sunglasses and ended up using this kit for a layout of her. I think that little BasicGrey tag hanging from the bow is hilarious ('you are soooooo good lookin') and you know i LOVE LOVE the ribbon in this add-on.

Hey guys! It's midnight on the 28th and that means a new Studio Calico kit reveal!

I'm really loving this month. I had more fun than I've had scrapping in a LONG time and I attribute that to loving what April put together for June. :)

I loved this Pink Paislee paper the moment I set eyes on it:

I knew I had to use it as the focus as a page.I hand cut four of the zig zags and layered them to make diamonds.

I filled in the diamonds with the SC pp from this month.

The photo block is layered on 2 sheets of vellum. I just love this page and it makes me so ridiculously happy! I'm really pleased with the way the journaling turned out,too.

This photo of the girls is one of my all time favorites. I enlarged it and printed it and didn't want to cover much of it with embellishments.

I had the idea to make this little "clothesline" out of twine and secure the ends with washi tape. I cut hearts from the vellum, and hung labels,die cuts,buttons,and sequins from the clothesline.

I adore the MME "elated,smile,etc" tag and I'm so glad I figured out a way to use it.

The adhesive lace from Malibu is awesome and I had a blast using it. It is a BIG roll...lots of bang for your buck!

He is going to KILL me for using this photo of him in my sunglasses. HAHAHA. I don't care. I think he looks hot even if he was wearing lady glasses.

I cut the letters from the SC patterned paper and "painted them" using Mister Huey's in Dewey (mixed with some water).

I really like the twine/button/butterfly embellishment clusters.

Yes, I use butterflies on "man pages". Why not? :)

I think this might be my favorite layout this month.
Did I mention how much I loved that adhesive lace? :)

I'm not really into hexagons (or stamps-HA!) but I actually really liked this stamp set.

Not much to explain about this one!

It was so nice to really click with a kit again. I've missed that feeling of loving what I'm making.

Sometimes you guys ask what I loved most for the month. I have to say that (even though Venice Beach was the DT favorite) I enjoyed using Malibu the most.

It's the add-on that is most "me" this month, I suppose.

this one is made using story hour and atlas.

under the photo of harper is a photo booklet. i bound the photos with staples and covered the staples with a strip from the edge of a sheet of patterned paper:

my heart punch got a workout from this one. :)

this one took me like six hours. HA!

i painted the jillibean cardboard alphabet with teal paint. the size and font is great, but i didn't like the brown color.

these alphas are very easy to paint!

yes, that's stitching. crooked, but stitching no less. pretty proud of myself!

i added a few of the dear lizzy chipboard shapes and stickers here...this layout is almost all pleasant valley.

 

life is sweet

this one was made using the main kit only. i'm in love with the exclusives in this kit. and also? i'm obsessed with the butterflies. i need MORE MORE MORE!!

i used the jbs jester punch a bunch this month. you can see it here under the butterfly.

the large scallop punch along the bottom is by ek success.

 

not so much

i am loving the alpha set from stepping stone. the title was stamped using teal damask and coltfoot stemens.

i used the jbs jester punch again on the bottom of the yellow/white striped paper.

and as you'll see, i really enjoyed using the MME kraft garland from Lady Lane. such a sweet accent.

 

pure magic

mist overload alert! i used cameo,sunshine,and dewey on the pink paislee mistable trim.

i'm also mildly obsessed with the pebbles sequins in clarksville. and MAJORLY obsessed with all things dear lizzy neapolitan. especially the mason jars.

used the chipboard accents here, too.

 

she

more dear lizzy, sequins, mason jars, tulle trim and more of the kraft garland...gosh this month was just perfect for me. and VERY easy to create with! SO happy to see elle's studio in the main kit, too.

the epoxy (exclusive) dear lizzy accents from daydream believer are all gone. i used every last one of them. :)

i stamped the title with teal damask chalk.

yes, i sewed, misted, AND stamped this month. i'm taking my resolution (to be more thoughtful in my scrapbooking) VERY seriously. :)

yes, it is really really pink. maybe a bit over the top? nahhhhh. never. haha! but i love it.

this is a page i took more time on. i thought about what i was doing instead of just getting it done. yes, still sticking to my scrapbooking resolution for 2012. and it's been joyful.
